1. Mahatma Gandhi

5. Lal Bahadur Shastri

Lal Bahadur Shastri is one of the greatest Indian freedom fighters. On October 2, 1904, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Lal Bahadur Shastri was born. His name was changed to Shastri, which is the English word for scholar.

He joined the non-cooperation movement at the age of sixteen, when Gandhi called him to leave his studies. Later, at the national university Kashi Vidyapeeth, which Gandhi had founded, he received a first-class degree.

6. Bhagat Singh

7. Dadabhai Naoroji

9. Bipin Chandra Pal

13. Nana Sahib

In May 1824, Balajirao Bhat, also referred to as Nana Sahib, was born in Bithoor (Kanpur District), Uttar Pradesh. He was the Maratha Empire’s eighth Peshwa in India. He also went by the name of Balaji Bajirao. The Maratha Empire was given to the Peshwas by Chattrapati Shahu after his death in 1749.

He designated the brave Peshwas as his heir because he lacked an heir to his dominion. As the ruler of the Maratha Empire, Nana Sahib significantly influenced Pune’s growth. Poona underwent a transformation during his reign, going from a small town to a major city.

By building new neighborhoods, temples, and bridges, he completely reshaped the city. Having said that, Sahib played a significant role in the 1857 uprising by inspiring a band of eager revolutionaries.

In Kanpur, he overran the British troops and put their camp in risk by killing the survivors. However, the British were able to reclaim Kanpur after overpowering Nana Saheb and his soldiers.

14. Sukhdev

This is one the Indian freedom fighter on the list of the greatest Indian freedom fighters. Sukhdev, who was active in the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and was born in 1907, was a fearless revolutionary.

15. Kunwar Singh

16. Mangal Pandey

Mangal Pandey is one of the Indian freedom fighter on the list of greatest Indian freedom fighters. A well-known Indian freedom warrior named Mangal Pandey is frequently credited with inspiring the 1857 uprising against the British, widely regarded as India’s first war for independence.

He led the sepoy mutiny, which ultimately resulted in the 1857 revolt, while serving in the 34th Bengal Native Infantry (BNI) regiment of the East India Company’s army. Midway through the 1850s, when a new Enfield rifle was introduced in India, his largest conflict with the company started.

There were rumors that the rifle’s cartridges were greased with animal fat, notably cow and pig fat. The usage of the cartridges caused the Indian troops to mutiny against the company since it went against their religious principles.
