Criteria for Eligibility At The International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships at University of Sheffield

  • Your program must start in the fall of 2023 at the University of Sheffield.
  • You must be given an offer for a course taken in its entirety at the University of Sheffield. With the exception of Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry, all undergraduate degree programs are acceptable (A200).
  • You must be self-supporting and qualified to pay the abroad tuition charge in order to qualify for financial aid.
  • You cannot be a sponsored student.
  • You must enroll in a degree program at the University of Sheffield in either the first or second year of the program.
  • All MArch programs are viewed as postgraduate taught programs for scholarship purposes and are not qualified for this or any other undergraduate scholarship.
  • The University of Sheffield retains the right to evaluate and modify the availability of scholarships.

Selection Criterion For The International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships at University of Sheffield

Not every application will be accepted because this is a competitive procedure. The strongest applications will be chosen by a panel of senior staff members who will look for the following:

International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships at University of Sheffield

 

  • Subject to you not enrolling as a sponsored student*, the scholarship may be given in conjunction with any other awards from the department or faculty you will be attending. To find out if your department or faculty offers any scholarships, please utilize the financing calculator.
  • Except for loans, which must be repaid in full, the scholarship cannot be given in conjunction with any outside funding**.
  • If you are chosen for a merit scholarship, you will be guaranteed the reward in your first year of study, subject to eligibility and award requirements. According to achieving a grade point average of 60% or higher (wmg) and earning a minimum of 120 credits the previous academic year, the scholarship is available in each of your subsequent academic years of study.
  • For the following courses: Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry, we are unable to accept applications for this award (A200).
  • The merit scholarship is not applicable during any required or elective study abroad terms or any years spent working in industry as part of your degree.
  • If you are chosen for a merit scholarship but do not comply with the requirements of your course offer, you will no longer be qualified to receive the prize.
  • If you are chosen for a merit scholarship and decide to switch to a new degree program and start over at level 1, you risk losing your scholarship.
  • Subject to meeting the eligibility and award requirements, you may continue to earn a merit scholarship even if you switch your degree program midway through your studies and enroll in the same academic year, for example, year 1 BA English to year 2 BA English Literature and Language.
  • A maximum of four academic years may be covered by the merit scholarship. Years spent working in the sector or overseas are not included.
  • There is no cash alternative; the scholarship will only be used as a tuition fee discount.
  • The scholarship committee’s decision is final. No applications for scholarships or appeals of decisions will be taken into consideration.
  • All of the University’s decisions are made in good faith, but if a scholarship is given based on expected grades and you don’t get those grades but are still allowed to enroll, the University reserves the right to take away the scholarship.

  • If you are chosen for a merit scholarship and then join the university through clearing, you will no longer be qualified to receive the prize.
  • This scholarship cannot be postponed to a subsequent entering year. You will lose this award if you decide to wait to enter this year.
  • The scholarship is not available during any study-intercalating years.
  • Part-time students will receive the corresponding amount of the award, prorated over the course of one full academic year.
  • If you are given the scholarship, we will need you to confirm your acceptance by a certain deadline in order for us to make the scholarship offer official.
  • A sponsored student is one who receives a total amount of money that, before any scholarships, discounts, or prizes are applied, equals or surpasses the initial tuition fee that the university demanded.
  •  Government or governmental organization, whether local, national, or international; research council; nonprofit organization; for-profit company; or any other organization of a like nature.
