The Global Change Leaders Program is divided into two parts:

1. Annually, from June 1 to July 17, a seven-week on-site intensive course at the Coady International Institute in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where facilitators and participants work together to extract lessons and insights from their rich and different experiences. This comprises of the following:

1. A foundation module in which participants focus on leadership theories and essential competencies, gender, citizenship, and power analysis, practical understandings of these concepts and their application for women leaders in their own contexts, strengthening capacities for social innovations, building multi-stakeholder partnerships, and enhancing abilities to realise citizen-driven asset-based development.
2. A emphasis on gendered approaches to social, political, and economic empowerment and community development, including addressing governance legitimacy and accountability, establishing inclusive economies, and building resilient communities.
3. A final module in which participants develop an action plan for how they will apply their new knowledge in their organisations and communities, as well as continuing to fight to empower more women in the future.

2. All participants of the the Canada global change leaders program will receive one-on-one mentoring from experienced women leaders upon their return home for up to six months to follow up on the application of learning into practise.

September 1, 2021 – February 28, 2024: Participants of the Canada global change leaders program will benefit from one-on-one mentoring from experienced women leaders upon their return home for up to six months to follow up on the application of learning into practise.

During the residence period, mentors and mentees of the Canada Global Change Leaders Program will be matched based on individual requirements and geographic areas. Participants will also become part of a global network of female leaders known as the alumnae.
