The Methodist Church of Canada founded the nondenominational public research institution known as the Institution of Regina in 1910. It started out at the University of Saskatchewan as an associate.

The Graduate Awards Portal (GAP), a system for online scholarship applications developed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, enables applicants to access all of the scholarships, awards, bursaries, fellowships, and prizes that the University of Regina provides to graduate students. Students who are interested in receiving awards can check and track the progress of their applications online.
There are three University of Regina scholarships available at designed exclusively for international students. As follows:

University of Regina Scholarships for International Admission
Level and Study Subject:
Students must be enrolled in 9 credit hours during the semester in which the award is given and have an early admission average of 85.00% or above.
Hosting Country:
It is a worldwide scholarship.
Worth of Scholarship:
This prize offers up to $200,000 per year. Undergraduate students on a Study Permit who are requesting admission directly from a secondary school (or equivalent) into a direct-entry undergraduate program are automatically paid $3,000 for their applications.

Circle of Scholars Entrance Scholarship at University of Regina
Level and Study Subject:
The best three students from each of three distinct geographic areas are recognized annually with this prize.
Hosting Country:
This scholarship has no limitations. Anyone may apply.
Worth of Scholarship:
The student will automatically earn $5,000 per academic year for up to 4 years if they meet the requirements each year. In addition to receiving financial aid, these students will be given the opportunity to attend an annual Circle of Scholars event with the President of the University of Rochester.
Conditions for Eligibility
The fall semester undergraduate degree-seeking students will be immediately qualified for this prize. Please be aware that this prize is subject to certain requirements.

Scholarships and Awards offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR)
Graduate Scholarship Base Fund (GSBF) scholarships are wholly sponsored by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR).
Holders of these prizes must be accepted as fully qualified students in a Master’s or Doctoral degree program at the University of Regina in order to be eligible for admission. Only admission offers to thesis-based graduate programs, including MFAs, will be considered for the University of Regina Graduate Fellowship (URGF) and University of Regina Graduate Awards (URGA).
Level and Study Subject:
The holders must have earned a first-class average at their previous universities or institutions, which is equivalent to a minimum of 80%.
Hosting Country:
This scholarship has no limitations. It’s a worldwide scholarship.
Scholarship Worth:
There are four funding levels:
- $17,500 or more are awarded to holders of Major Awards
- UR Graduate Fellowships (URGF) –Students can work up to 12 hours per week
- Ph.D. URGF: A minimum of $20,000 per year for up to four year
- Master’s URGF: A minimum of $10,000 per year for up to two years
- UR Graduate Awards (URGA) – Students can work up to 12 hours per week
- Ph.D. URGA: A minimum of $10,000 per year for up to four years
- Master’s URGA: A minimum of $5,000 per year for up to two years
- UR Graduate Scholarships (URGS) – hours of work are at the choice of the academic unit and the student

Eligibility prerequisites
Students must maintain an average of at least 80%. The student will automatically lose their right to financial aid if they get an incomplete or failing grade on their work from the previous semester.
The monies are NOT available to students who are or will be in post-program maintenance.
To be qualified, GRST 800AA must be finished no later than the 15th of February, the 15th of June, or the 15th of October in the semester in which the student begins their program.
Recipients of the URGraduate Fellowships (URGF) and UR Graduate Awards (URGA) must be enrolled full-time in the semester in which the funding is to be received. As a result, they must enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours of the course or thesis work related to their program during the corresponding semester when there are outstanding requirements (i.e. thesis or course credit) in their programs.
These monies are NOT available to students who already receive government financing for their education.
During the semester in which the prize is given, students may work up to 12 hours per week. Holders of RUGS may exceed this cap.
